Day-8 .. Johns Hopkins Univ. & Baltimore Harbor

If it's Sunday .. I must be in Baltimore!   I'm glad (5) days of biking and strolling through museums and memorials start tomorrow.   It feels like I've been on a merry-go-round.   Another fantastic breakfast by Bruce & Vania!   RA & David .. it's like I'm at the Uppsala Hotel again.  I'll take a picture tomorrow.

The day started with a .. would you believe it?  .. a lacrosse game!   At just not any stadium, but one of the most iconic college lacrosse stadiums, Homewood Field on the beautiful campus of Johns Hopkins University.   I got there early (of course!) and visited with several fans who traveled from Ohio to cheer on their Buckeyes.  Good visit.  Talked with a high school freshman who plays defense in NJ who was checking out the school with his parents.

It was a foggy, drizzly morning.   Game time was at noon.  Ohio State was warming up :

This game turned out to be as thrilling as the overtime game in Annapolis yesterday!   Johns Hopkins ran out to a big lead in the first half but Ohio State kept scoring in the 2nd half and came roaring back.    It was 13-13 with 2-min to play.   Ohio State's goalie made a crucial save and the boys came down the field and scored the winner with 52-sec to play.   The Buckeyes face-off specialist then won the faceoff and OSU held on for the win, 14-13.   Wow!  Hard to believe my luck in watching two exciting games in the same weekend!
I'm exhausted!   It's one thing watching these games on TV .. but .. in person?

a tradition, after the game, the teams go down the line shaking hands

On to Baltimore Harbor.   Left JH at 2:30 and was able to find a great parking place and make the 3:00pm sailing for the harbor cruise.   This must be what Barb & Barry must feel like when their cruise stops at so many ports and they're off and going and touring and getting back on ship and doing this again & again.  But, they're pro's now and they've got their system down.  Me, in only my 2nd big road trip, still hasn't figured out how to not cram so much in day after day!  Well- hopefully some day.  Florida road trip is coming up in October.

USS Constellation - a sloop of war, in service from .. 1854-1954 !!

a couple of military transport ships

Ft. McHenry (Star Spangled Banner) .. from the water !

The 'John W Brown' .. the last remaining LIBERTY ship from WWII

where they restore Chesapeake Bay sailing vessels

an interesting boat .. replica of a Chinese 'junk' ?

A very interesting cruise.  But I was getting hungry.   I hadn't eaten lunch, and I noticed a Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. sign on the waterfront.  It was time for a 'Loose Lips' and jambalaya.   I'll save the blue crab for later visiting with Weldon.

Another fun day.   When back at the airbnb, I collapsed on the bed.   My biking, hiking, and viewing adventures start tomorrow!
