What a way to start my 2nd epic road trip! Cameron's 6th birthday first ever 'friends' birthday party! on Saturday over two frenetic hours! Jeanette and Matt achieved the impossible. At Christmas, when Jessie & Marty and Ruth Ann & David and I were at the Fiess's, we all pitched in to decorate for Margaret's 3-year-old Minnie Mouse themed birthday celebration. Her birthday is Dec.26.
Super artist Jessie was a major contributor! If you saw some of my Instagram pictures from that event, you know what I'm talking about! Cameron wanted an under-the-sea theme. Jeanette and Matt came up with fantastic ideas! Jelly fishes hanging from the ceiling, a large coral reef, and much more. An octopus cake, cupcakes, and fish and shell cookies. An excellent themed environment!
Re: this first picture. Can you imagine the decibel levels with (7) 6-year olds and (1) 3-year old? Here are a few more pictures of this fun party :
Crab walkers. See the pin the arm on the octopus game?
Jeanette reading some octopus books.
Each of the kids took a picture with Cameron.
The party was from 4-6pm. That morning, in keeping with the under-the-sea theme, Jeanette arranged for the family to meet at the Seattle Aquarium.
Grandpa Norm, Auntie Rebecca, and cousin Emerson joined us. Fun time.
Then, a special treat, lunch at Ivar's on the waterfront. Seafood, .. yummy!
On Sunday, after church at First Free Methodist, adjacent to Seattle Pacific,
and after lunch, it was time to say bye and hit the road. Thankfully, the highways were relatively clear in Seattle, and before you know it, I was climbing to Snoqualmie Pass on I-90. 320 miles to Coeur d'Alene.
I-90 passes through some of the most fertile farm land in the country!
Washington State ranks No.1 in the country in : red raspberries, HOPS, spearmint oil, wrinkled seed peas, sweet cherries, APPLES, all pears, concord grapes, processing carrots, processing green peas, and processing sweet corn!
George, Washington .. interesting town .. is the home of the Gorge Amphitheatre, an iconic regional music venue, similar to the Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside of Denver. The Sasquatch Music Festival is one of the highlight events, along with hosting the world's largest cherry pie!
Here's a few pictures from the area :
Again, what a way to start my journey! Road trip time. A way to keep me busy and a chance for me to pursue my life long love of history and science. It will also help me grieve for my beloved Mary Nell. A lot of quiet time to reflect on our family's treasure!
I hope you enjoy the next 30-days of posts. Take care.
